Argentinian Tango

Argentinian tango, now famous and practiced worldwide, first developed as a folk dance of the lower urban classes in the Rio de la Plata region. The music, the rhythm, the dance steps are a real celebration of cultural diversity. Immigrants from all over the globe influenced its development with elements from many different cultures (European dancing traditions, Cuban habanera rhythm, Afro-Caribbean music). Born in Argentina from the meeting of different cultures, it soon become popular in the major cultural cities around the world and is today inscribed on the UNESCO List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
