Ndebele Necklace

The Ndebele women from South Africa wear these neck rings made from copper or brass to elevate their beauty and symbolize their status in the community as well as their bond and loyalty to their husbands. Traditionally these copper or brass rings are provided by the husband and could only be removed in the event of the death of the partner. Currently, it is not mandatory to wear the rings indelibly.
