Whistling

An endangered culture, whistling is becoming a forgotten language. Popular in a remote village in Turkey, the culture of whistling as a communication instrument is kept alive. The practice developed as a result of steep mountains and thick topography which required people to find alternative ways of communicating. The communities concerned consider this practice to be a key reflection of their cultural identity. which reinforces interpersonal communication and solidarity.
